The short answer

The HighLevel website builder is convenient if your marketing already runs in HighLevel and you, or your agency, are happy editing pages in its drag-and-drop builder. You can keep HighLevel as your CRM either way.

Which is right for a general contractor?

This comparison is not about the CRM. HighLevel is a capable CRM and automation platform, and many contractors should keep it. It is about where the website itself is built: inside a general-purpose page builder that someone has to maintain, or as a custom-coded site run for you, connected to HighLevel.

When the HighLevel website builder is the better fit

  • Your agency manages your whole marketing stack inside HighLevel and wants the site in the same account.
  • You need a simple brochure site and you or your team enjoy editing it yourselves.
  • You want website, funnels, CRM and automations billed under one platform subscription.

When a managed GetConstructionWebsite site wins

  • Nobody on your team has time to maintain pages, and the site needs to change every week anyway.
  • You bid many different scopes across several towns and need each one to rank on its own page.
  • You want a guaranteed speed score and structured data on every page without asking for it.
  • You want articles researched and published every week as part of the plan.

Switching or combining

How to switch, or use both

  • Keep HighLevel as the engine room

HighLevel stays your CRM, calendar and automation layer. Our site becomes the front door: every form posts into HighLevel by API, Zapier or Make, and your existing workflows fire exactly as they do today.

  • How the switch works

We rebuild the pages worth keeping, map every old URL to its new page with a 301 redirect before launch, and point your domain at the new site. Your HighLevel account keeps running. The switch is live 7 days after onboarding on Foundation.

Sample reviews

What a switch can look like

  • I was worried a new site would lose the few pages that already ranked. Every old address was mapped to a new page before launch, and the calls from search kept coming the week we switched.
Brian KesslerOwner, Residential general contractorColumbus, OH · Foundation plan

A redesign with every old URL redirected

  • Our old site took forever to open on a phone. The new one opens straight away, and the articles have started bringing in people who searched a question before they searched for a contractor.
Greg HalvorsenOwner, Design-build remodelerTacoma, WA · Finish Out plan

A fast site in place of a page-builder site, with articles every week

  • The estimate request form finally goes somewhere. It used to sit in an inbox I only checked at night. Now it is in the same CRM as the rest of my pipeline before I am off the job site.

GoHighLevel website builder vs GetConstructionWebsite: questions contractors ask

Is the GoHighLevel website builder good for SEO?

It gives you the basic controls: titles, descriptions and URLs. Whether a HighLevel site ranks depends on the structure and content someone builds into it. Our plans include that structure, a page per service and per town, plus weekly articles and schema by default.

Can I keep HighLevel if I move my website to you?

Yes, and most clients who use HighLevel should. We connect the website forms to your HighLevel CRM, so your pipelines and automations keep working.

Will moving my site off HighLevel hurt my rankings?

Not if it is done properly. We map every old URL to its new equivalent with a 301 redirect before launch, which carries the ranking signal of your existing pages over to the new ones.

Who edits the site once it moves?

We do. Weekly updates are included, plus 5 revisions a month of any size, requested from your client portal and completed within 2 to 5 working days.

Is a HighLevel site slower than a custom-coded one?

Not necessarily; it depends on how it is built. The difference is that our terms guarantee a speed score for pages we build and host, and fix it at no charge if our work falls below it.

Can my HighLevel chat widget stay on the new site?

Chat is part of our AI Engine on the Framing and Finish Out plans. If you want to keep an existing widget instead, tell us during onboarding and we will discuss placing it.

Do you work with HighLevel agencies?

Yes. If an agency runs your HighLevel account, we coordinate forms, tracking and calendar links with them so nothing breaks.

What happens to my domain?

If you already own it, we point it at the new site. If you need one, a domain is included and registered in your name.
